Team Run This Year Ambassador

Have you heard of the "Run This Year challenge?"  I'm going to tell you about it.  I was selected as an ambassador for Team Run This Year for 2014.  So, what that means is that I will be encouraging others to join in on the challenge on top of taking the challenge myself.  What is the challenge you say!? Well I'll tell you about it. There are 3 different ways that you can participate.
  1. You can run 2,014 miles in 2014
  2. You can run 2,014 km in 2014 (1,251.441 miles)
  3. You can set your own goal
As much as I would love to be able to take on the full challenge of 2,014 miles I am not yet in the shape or on track to be able to hit that many miles. So, my personal goal will be to take the 2nd challenge. So, I will be challenging myself to hit 2,014 km. This is almost 1,252 miles. Meaning I will be adding about 25-30% on to my mileage from 2013. This may seem like a jump, but I'm sure I can persevere and get there. Especially with my goal for 2014 of running my 1st marathon. Training for that I'm sure that I can get there.  if you need some help there are also training calendars and examples that you can follow.

Here are the ways via social media that you can follow Run This Year:

There is an awesome team can help you if you have any questions or if you simply need some motivation.  I am included in this team.  You can find the list of team members including their major role by checking out the Run This Year page on Running Hutch's site.  If you are up for the challenge, head on over to register to Run This Year!

And last, but not least I have the winner of the Core Power Fit-Kit giveaway.  The winner is Maria Huff from Lil Mys Ninja!!

  1. Yay!! Thanks Cecil!!

In regards to Run This Year 2014 - I've been meaning to sign up all last week. Thankfully your post reminded me again so I've just signed up. I wanted to do the 2nd option but I'm more realistic with a 1,000 mile goal. In 2013 I set myself a goal to do 500 miles and I superseded that. I'm thinking that 1,000 is definitely doable!

    1. Great to have you taking on the challenge! I ended up with around 800+ miles for the year. Even though my tracker only tracked just over 600 miles. I am going to be training for 1 (if not 2) marathons this year and possibly my 1st ultra even towards the end of the year so I set my goal kind of high going for 2,014 km. Maybe next year I'll work on miles instead of km....maybe.

      Welcome to the challenge!

  2. I'm going to sign up, I ran a little over 1200 last year, but I think 2014 is too big of a jump. I'll set me own goal of 1500 miles.

  3. That is awesome that you are an ambassador for this! I haven't signed up yet but I'm thinking about it. Probably be more in the range you're in, which is still a significant amount of miles. Good luck!
